Cathy Hanson, HorseCoursesOnline faculty member, has been named AQHA’s 2007 Most Valuable Professional.

          The prestigious award that transcends gender, is given to the professional whose year-long contributions have benefited horses, horse lovers and the horse industry.  AQHA, the world’s largest breed association, made Hanson the award recipient at the national convention.

            Hanson teaches Showmanship in Hand and Preparation for Competition for, the world’s leading provider of online equine study courses.  Her courses are part of the 16 courses leading to a Bachelor of Science degree in Equine Studies.

           A trainer of world champion horses, Hanson specializes in trail horses and working with youth competitors.  Her training facility in San Juan Capistrano, CA, maintains nearly 40 active show horses at all times.

          A past president of Pacific Coast Quarter Horse Association (PCQHA), Hanson is now concentrating primarily on the development of youth and equine education programs.  She serves the PCQHA both as a Director and Youth Activities.
          An active clinician, Hanson was a member of the coaching team for the Youth World Cup.  She is co-author of Natural Western Riding, a book used by many colleges and universities as text for “riding courses.”

          Hanson is currently President of the Southern California Quarter Horses Exhibitors’ Association and is Treasurer of the Southern California Professional Horsemen’s Association.  To learn more about Hanson, visit her website,
